RARE BYZANTINE SILVER-GILT RING WITH CONSTANTINE THE GREAT AND ST HELENA

Ca. AD 1200 - 1400. A silver-gilt ring with a broad hoop widening at the shoulders and a circular bezel engraved with Constantine the Great and St Helena flanking a tall cross, all set on a groundline within a pellet border. Each shoulder has two framed panels, one engraved with a cross and the other with a foliate branch. For similar subject see: The British Museum, Museum number 1916,1108.6.
