Ca. AD 400 - 600. A gold ring with a plain hoop of D-section, set at each shoulder with a cluster of small globules. A rectangular bezel mount with a deep, straight-sided frame holds a beryl intaglio engraved with a peacock in profile, the head raised on an arched neck and the long tail drawn out behind.
