Ca. AD 800 - 1100. A silver-gilt pendant formed as a rectangular plaque with a rounded upper edge, engraved in low relief with the half-length figure of the Mother of God, nimbate and shown frontally with raised hands in orans, wearing a mantle with linear folds. The field is flanked by the inscription MP _Y, all within a raised border, with a plain reverse and an integral suspension lug above. Size: 41.3mm x 33.5mm; Weight: 16.12g Provenance: Private London collection; previously acquired on the Dutch art market.
