Ca. AD 800 - 1000. A gold cross pendant with arms of equal length, flaring towards the terminals, each filled with openwork filigree within beaded wire borders and finished at the angles with fine granules. A circular central mount holds a garnet cabochon. Openwork roundels with small rosettes are attached at the ends of the arms, with a suspension loop at the apex. Size: 37mm x 28mm; Weight: 5.3g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Belgium; formerly in a German private collection before 2000.
