Ca. 200 - 100 BC. A bronze Boeotian helmet with a tall conical crown rising to a finial formed as a tapering spike above a moulded collar, the bowl drawn down to a broad flaring brim. Hinged cheekpieces are suspended from the interior at either side, and the fastening system is retained with a strap and buckle beneath. Restored. Size: 530mm x 355mm; Weight: 1.02kg Provenance: Private London collection; formerly in Austrian private collection 1980s-early1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
