A gold snake ring formed from a round-section wire coiled in three turns, the upper terminal drawn up into an upright serpent's head with incised scales and drilled eyes, the opposite end finished as a tight curl. Size: D:12mm / US: 44928 / UK: A; Weight: 1.9g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
