Ca. 400 - 200 BC. A silver phalera formed as a circular plaque riveted at the centre with a high-relief roundel showing a gorgon with staring eyes, a broad nose, and a closed mouth. The hair is rendered as thick locks gathered beneath a central knot, flanked by outspread wings at either side of the head, framed by a ringed border. Size: 127mm x 130mm; Weight: 125g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Belgium; formerly in Dr. Roozendaal collection, The Netherlands, 1970s-1980s.
