Set of 18 etchings from Les Grandes Misères de la Guerre. 1633. Provenance: Ernst Plassmann (1823-1877); by direct descent. Note: Ernst Plassmann (alternate spelling, Plassman) was a German born sculptor and carver who emigrated to NYC and is known for his depictions of Ben Franklin in Printing house Square and Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt outside Grand Central Terminal. He is also noted for his carving of a huge breakfront that was displayed at the New York Crystal Palace Exhibition, 1853 for Gustave Herter. Property from a Trumbull, CT collection. Dimensions: image: 3.25" h x 7.5" (each). Book boards: 12.5" h x 9.75" w. 品相: The condition is consistent with the age and the materials of the work which may indicate imperfections. Toning. All mounted two to page. Cover and spine 'as is' and all pages loose. See photos.
