Ca. 100 BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each formed as a hollow hoop of boat profile, with a rounded knop at the front and an eye-and-hook wire catch at the back. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 2021.40.73a, b. Size: 17-17mm x 15-16mm; Weight: 6.4g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
