the 'cover' entitled qiankun zhengqi [The Righteous Energy of Heaven and Earth] in blue enamel (2) Length 9.6 cm, 3¾ in. Compare a closely related famille-rose box in the shape of a book, likely serving as inspiration for the present, of Qianlong mark and period, illustrated in The Complete Collection of the Treasures of the Palace Museum: Porcelains with Cloisonne Enamel Decoration and Famille Rose Decoration, Hong Kong, 2009, pl. 14. The Qiankun zhengqi ji [Compendium of the righteous energy of heaven and earth] is a collection of poems compiled by Qing dynasty scholar Gu Yuan (1799-1851). Including poems by more than three hundred famous scholars from the Shang to Ming dynasties, the compendium was designed to "rectify people's hearts and change customs."
