Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC A composite wooden statuette of Ptah-Sokar-Osiris in three parts, showing the mummiform god standing above a rectangular platform and fixed at the rear. He wears an atef crown with ram's horns, a solar disc and tall ostrich feathers. The decoration is polychrome and glazed. A multi-strand necklace and a beaded pectoral are painted across the chest. Below is a naos-shaped amulet with figures of the deceased, Anubis and a goddess, flanked by uraei. A winged kheper appears beneath, framed by udjat eyes and birds, and a panel of three vertical hieroglyphic columns completes the scheme with a prayer to Osiris for the deceased. Size: 700mm x 425mm; Weight: 2.3kg. Provenance: Private UK collection, acquired on the French art market; Formerly in the collection of the painter Kees Van Dongen (1877-1968 in Monte Carlo).
