Third Intermediate Period, 22nd-25th Dynasties, Ca. 945 - 700 BC; probably from Lower Egypt.. An upper part of lid of a wooden coffin decorated with polychrome painted gesso. It features a vulture headdress over a striped archaic wig, with a central black scarab symbolising regeneration. The pink-hued face displays pronounced black-outlined eyes and eyebrows. The closed hands are adorned with coloured designs, possibly representing richly patterned gloves. For similar see: J. H.
