Ca. 500 - 300 BC. A carnelian intaglio engraved with a centaur advancing to the left on a groundline, the human torso with one arm raised holding a staff and the other bent before the chest, above an equine body with a lowered tail. The stone is mounted in a possibly later gold ring with broad shoulders and an oval bezel mount with a narrow collet, on a plain hoop of rounded section.
