拍品描述
Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. >An exceptional Salimboya Zuni mask, constructed from shaped hide forming a cylindrical body, the surface is decorated with a bold circular motif composed of geometric segments arranged within a radiating star-like design. The painted decoration in black, red, and earth tones contrasts with the natural buff surface of the hide. A fringe of dark feathers encircles the lower edge, creating a dense collar-like border, while a wooden nose projects from the side. Additional feathers and fibre elements are attached at the top. > >Size: 340mm x 290mm; Weight: 1.47kg > Published: Paris, Musee National d'Art Moderne / Centre Georges Pompidou, Andre Breton, La Beaute Convulsive, 1991, p. 364.
