Ca. 4th - 9th century AD. >A greenstone celt of elongated, tapering form with a rounded cutting edge and gently narrowing body. With smooth, convex surface, the stone displaying a deep mottled green and dark mineral inclusions across the surface. The highly worked finish reflects prolonged grinding and polishing, producing a soft lustre characteristic of ceremonial greenstone implements.
