Ca. 20th century AD. >A Tuareg metal pouch pendant suspended from a multi-strand leather cord necklace. The rectangular container is decorated with finely engraved geometric motifs and panels of contrasting colour, creating a symmetrical and carefully structured design across the surface. Small projecting elements appear along the lower edge, adding depth and texture to the composition.The pendant is attached to the cord by cylindrical spacers composed of beads, introducing bands of red and green that contrast with the dark leather strands. The pouch strap is secured by a simple knotted fastening at the back.Amuletic pendants of this type were worn by Tuareg peoples of the Sahara, often serving as protective containers for written prayers, charms, or other small sacred items.
