Ca. 19th - early 20th century AD. An Inuit composite fishing implement, consisting of a broad wooden shank with multiple drilled suspension holes, fitted with a central antler extension and three forged iron prongs forming a trident-like hook. Such tools, known as kakivak, were designed for spearing and securing fish beneath the ice or in rivers, combining traditional organic materials with traded metal.Size: 325mm x 65mm; Weight: 475gProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
