Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A thin sheet gold appliqu? modelled in low relief as a stag in left profile with the legs folded beneath the body, the neck extended and the head raised, with the antlers rendered as a series of curling branches along the back, perforated near the edges for attachment. Size: 35mm x 25mm; Weight: 1.1g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
