Ca. 500 BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a boat-shaped body and a curved wire, the lower arc pierced with circular cells and applied clusters of granules. The hoop is wrapped by coiled wire at the junctions, linked by a fine wire threaded with a spherical bead. Size: 37-38mm x 23-23mm; Weight: 11.7g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
