Neapolitan Fisher Boy, after Gustav Karl Ludwig Richter (1823-1884), circa 1900 with impressed scepter mark above KPM and various impressed numerals. Sight 9 inches (22.8 cm), width 6 inches (15.3 cm). A copy of the portrait by Gustav Karl Ludwig Richter of the Neapolitan Fisher Boy resides in the Boston Public Library, item 07_11_00331. Here’s a polished version with cleaner flow and tighter phrasing: Gustav Karl Ludwig Richter (1823–1887) was a German portrait painter who trained under Eduard Holbein and later studied with Léon Cogniet in Paris. Although he worked in various genres early in his career, he ultimately devoted himself to portraiture after recognizing his particular success in that field. He is best known for his series depicting aristocratic beauties, including his 1872 portrait of Princess Carolath.
