拍品描述

After Guillaume Coustou, late 19th Century Height 25 inches, width 18 inches, with wood plinths. Footnote: The original Marly horses or 'Chevaux de Marly' were made by Guillaume Coustou for the Palace of Marly in 1740-45 and represented the wild and free forces of nature. They were placed at the head of the Champs-Elysées in Paris in 1794 and two hundred years later were moved again to the Louvre. They achieved celebratory status especially during the Napoleonic wars and came to be seen as an allegory of France and glory in war. 品相: No condition report?
