Possibly by Richard Roberts, in the manner of Daniel Marot, circa 1720 Each scrolled back with a pierced backsplat below a shell and plume cresting, the drop-in seat above a shaped apron on shell-carved cabriole legs and hairy hoof feet joined by wavy stretchers. Height 48 1/2 inches (123.2 cm), width 20 3/4 inches (52.8 cm), depth 15 1/2 inches (39.4 cm), seat height 17 1/2 inches (44.4 cm). Footnote: The present set is similar to a pair of chairs supplied by Richard Roberts to George I at Hampton Court Palace. An almost identical set of six chairs with pierced ornate aprons was sold in these rooms, Doyle, October 16, 2025 lot 426.
