Stamped I. Jacob, circa 1795 Each with slightly curved rectangular tablet above an upholstered seat, supported by sabre legs; both seat rails stamped I. Jacob George Jacob maître in 1765 Footnote: The present chairs exemplify the refined sobriety of the Directoire period, with their rectilinear backs and elegant tapering sabre legs, a hallmark of Georges Jacob's oeuvre in the late 18th century.
