The surface was vacuumed with brushes and then cleaned to reduce dust and dirt; wooden tools and bamboo skewers were used to remove core material from the exterior and interior surfaces; a thin layer of clear synthetci microcrystalline wax was applied and then a brown wax was applied to a few greenish pitted areas.
