Circa 1757 Of baluster form, the flared rocaille neck below a molded wind shield enriched with puce and painted with insects over a pierced aperture for a candle and small adjacent aperture, the wind shield joined on the reverse with a scroll-molded loop handle, the body reserved with amorous peasants seated on a bench amid trees and scrolling puce borders, on three scroll-molded feet, the underside with puce wheel mark and impressed wheel mark. Height 7 1/8 inches (18.2 cm). Provenance: An Important Swiss Collection of European Porcelain, Christie's London, February 21, 2005, lot 216.
