Chinese Export Porcelain Dutch Decorated Shipping Saucer-Dish

First quarter 18th century The center enameled with various ships full sail, the center ship with the arms of Zeeland and the date 1700 on the stern amid waves, the foreground with a small boat carrying passengers within a red, black, and turquoise geometric border. Diameter 8 inches (20.3 cm). Provenance: Aronson Antiquairs, Amsterdam. For a comparison, see Dutch-decorated saucer-dish (c. 1740-46) in The British Museum object Franks. 597. a. Footnote: Dishes with identical decoration are in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Netherlands (Lunsingh Scheurleer, 1974, pl. 355); in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (no. c.317-1963); and in a private collection (Hervouet and Bruneau, 1986, no. 16.4). Dishes like these were made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, and decorated in Holland. The scene above is most unusual as the stern is dated 1700. This practice was observed in votive ship models, which hung in European coastal churches as a reminder of the dangers and rewards of the sea. The date 1700, therefore, should not be mistaken as the date of decoration. This scene could also have derived from a popular marine painting or print of the time. 品相： No condition report?
