拍品描述
In the manner of Juste-Aurele Meissonier, circa 1900 The nautilus shells applied with gilt-bronze mounts, the other pair rises to a spiral finial encircled by applied gilt-bronze bands. Width 9 1/4 inches (23.5 cm), depth 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm), height of other pair 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), diameter 4 inches (10 cm). Footnote: These pittoresque compositions reflect the influence of Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier, with naturalistically modelled shells entwined with gilt-bronze mounts. In 18th-century France, scientific curiosity flourished. Encouraged by figures such as the Abbé Nollet, collectors assembled cabinets de curiosités, displaying instruments, shells, corals, and books. 品相: No condition report?
