Ca. 20th century AD. >A group of three Polynesian canoe models, each carved from wood and constructed with miniature architectural elements reflecting traditional seafaring vessels of the Pacific. The elongated hulls taper to pointed ends and are fitted with outrigger floats connected by crossbeams, a characteristic feature that provides stability on open water. One example incorporates a raised platform structure supported by multiple vertical struts, suggesting a larger voyaging canoe configuration, while the others present simpler outrigger arrangements with curved connecting arms.
