A Self-Portrait of the Artist Oil on canvas, within a painted oval 21 1/2 x 15 5/8 inches (54.6 x 39.7 cm) Frame 27 1/2 x 21 1/2 inches (70 x 54.6 cm) The original version of this work, the last known self-portrait by Sir Anthony Van Dyck, is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London. One of only three self-portraits painted while the artist was living in England, it dates to around 1640-41. It is thought to have been completed only a few months before Van Dyck's death in December 1641. In this composition, the artist shows himself fashionably dressed, but apparently in the act of painting, with the line of his shoulder and sleeve suggesting that his right hand is raised to apply paint to a canvas just out of sight. 品相： Glue relined. Some shadows reinforced. Touches of restoration to the background. The edge of the oval surround and the spandrels reinforced.
