Ca. 20th century AD. >A flat based carved kou wood bowl and a pair of carved wooden implements. The bowl of rounded form with a warm natural patina and prominent grain patterns characteristic of kou wood. The two implements of elongated form with shaped handles. Kou wood (Cordia subcordata) has long been favored in Hawaiian woodworking traditions for its durability and attractive grain.
