LATE ROMAN / EARLY BYZANTINE ELECTRUM SCROLL / AMULET CASE WITH MENORAH

Ca. AD 400 - 500. A cylindrical electrum scroll/amulet case decorated in granulation with a central menorah flanked by a palm frond and a shofar (ram's horn). Each end is closed by a circular terminal with a petalled rosette in applied wire around a central boss. Two broad suspension loops are soldered to the upper surface.
