GROUP OF MANGBETU NEGBE AND YAP ISLAND BAG

Ca. 20th century AD. >A group comprising three Mangbetu negbe panels and a woven bag from Yap Island. The Mangbetu examples are formed from woven and bark-based plant fibres, each displaying distinctive surface decoration. Two pieces exhibit irregular dark linear markings across pale surfaces, while another features a carefully arranged geometric pattern composed of alternating triangular motifs. The group also includes a woven bag from Yap Island, characterised by its finely worked surface and gently curved rectangular form.
