In the form of a seated Colima dog with rounded body, upright ears, and open mouth, the spout rising from the back, such dog-form vessels are characteristic of Colima culture ceramic traditions from ancient West Mexico. The Colima culture is known for its distinctive redware pottery and these iconic zoomorphic dog vessels.
