Dating to the late Qing Dynasty or early Republic period, finely decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay against a deep black ground. The lid is centered with a figural scene depicting a scholar or attendant standing beneath a stylized tree, rendered in iridescent shell with engraved details. The surrounding field is ornamented with repeating geometric and landscape-inspired motifs, creating a balanced and rhythmic decorative scheme. Overall good antique condition with edge wear visible along the rim and corners, consistent with age and handling. Please refer to the photos for more details.
