From the Dan peoples of Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire, featuring a high domed forehead, pierced circular eyes, triangular nose, and open oval mouth. The rim is finished with an applied fiber border attached through perforations, likely intended as decorative trim and possibly imitating braided hair. Dark patinated surface. Hollowed reverse with visible hand-carved interior. Good antique condition with surface wear consistent with traditional use and age. Please refer to the photos for more details. Measures approximately 9" x 5-1/2" x 2" (length excluding braided hair).
