PAIR OF BEAUTIFUL CAMEROON DOWAYO / NAMJI DOLL

Ca. 20th century AD. >A pair of Namji dolls. Each doll is carved as a stylized standing figure with a small wooden core almost entirely concealed beneath elaborate beadwork and ornamentation. The bodies are densely wrapped with strands of colourful trade beads arranged in layered bands of red, blue, and white, forming garments that cascade around the torso and waist. Shells hang in clusters from the lower sections, creating a skirt-like arrangement, while additional ornaments?including metal rings and pendants?are suspended among the bead strands.
