Of natural tapering form with a softly everted rim. The body is deeply carved in relief depicting a fisherman holding a large fish and stepping on a jar under swirling clouds, with a gourd (hulu) hanging above at the upper left - a traditional Chinese symbol of good fortune, health, and longevity. The reverse side features two squirrels climbing along a tree trunk, representing prosperity and abundance. Ox horn cups were prized in Qing dynasty collections for their symbolic carvings and organic beauty. The fisherman scene conveys harmony with nature and contentment in life, while the hulu and squirrels enhance the auspicious meanings of longevity and prosperity. The horn exhibits warm caramel and dark brown hues, and a smooth, lustrous patina developed over time, in very good condition. Please refer to the photos for more details.
