Two Japanese stoneware vases attributed to Otagaki Rengetsu Edo/Meiji period, 19th century Both similarly potted with irregular, cylindrical bodies rising to rounded shoulders set with upright everted loop handles below everted lipped rims, the first covered in a crackled creamy glaze and painted with running calligraphy under the glaze, 49.5cm high, fitted wood box; the second also painted with calligraphy, the crackled, creamy glaze fired to an orange hue, 50.4cm high (2).
