A Chinese zitan 'dragon' tabletop cabinet, kanggui Qing dynasty, 18th century Formed in the shape of a compound cabinet, with brass hinges, the doors deeply carved with five-clawed dragons emerging from tumultuous waves, the interior with two thin drawers and two hidden compartments at the bottom, 69.5cm high x 40.5cm wide x 18.5cm deep. 清十八世紀 紫檀龍紋炕櫃 Cf. A similar cabinet was sold at Bonhams New Bond Street, 3rd November 2022, Lot 161. A larger compound cabinet is in the Qing Court Collection, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures in the Palace Museum. Furniture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, vol.2, Hong Kong, 2002, p.211. A similar carved zitan 'dragon' cabinet, 18th century, was sold at Sotheby's New York, 15 September 2018, lot 1318.
