A Chinese huanghuali rectangular incense stand, changfang xiangji Early Qing dynasty, Kangxi period The single-panel top set within a wide rectangular frame above a plain narrow waist and plain aprons, all raised on four tall thumb moulded and reeded square-section legs joined by a pierced and carved recessed skirting panel with humpback stretchers on hoof feet, 45.5cm long x 34.7cm wide x 85cm high. Cf. a similarly-shaped rectangular incense stand, with C. L. Ma provenance, sold by Christies Hong Kong, 30 May 2023, lot 2718. Interesting, the Christies example lacks the recessed thumb moulding that is reeded throughout the square members of the present lot. Furthermore, the thumb-moulding theme is here echoed in the top panel frame.
