A Chinese famille verte on biscuit figure of Wenchang Qing dynasty, Kangxi period The god of literature finely modelled seated on a later fitted wood stand modelled as a chair, wearing a flowing green- and yellow-glazed robe incised with a dragon and cloud motif, 22cm high. 清康熙 素燒三彩文昌帝像 Wenchang Wang is a Taoist deity in Chinese mythology, known as the god of culture and literature. He is also at times referred to simply as Wen Qu, or Wen.
