Two small Chinese Dehua Blanc-de-Chine Buddhist figures Late Ming/Early Qing dynasty, 17th/18th century The first, a seated Guanyin holding a scroll, covered overall in a creamy-white glaze, the reverse with impressed He Chaochun seal mark within a double gourd, 9.5cm high, the second, a figure of Budai leaning on a sack, reclining over a dais supported by craggy rocks, the glaze of a bluish-white hue, 10cm long (2). Cf. A larger figure with the same mark was sold by Bonhams New Bond Street, 9 November 2017, lot 73. 73。 He Chaochun is believed to have been related, possibly the younger brother of He Chaozong, and is thought to have worked roughly twenty years later, producing work on a more modest scale than the renowned late Ming dynasty Dehua master.
