A rare archaic bronze Chariot-Axle tubular cap fitting Western Zhou Dynasty Finely incised with slanting parallel lines above a band enclosing two pairs of two striding archaic dragons and pierced with rectangular apertures, the bronze with a fine, naturally grown patina with malachite and cuprite encrustations, 14.7cm high. Provenance: The Collection of Sam and Myrna Myers, Paris, France. Acquired between circa 1965-2012. Cf. Compare with a pair of axle caps with a similar decorative band, Shang dynasty, in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, illustrated by A.
