Zeng Mi (1933 - 2022) Waterfall of Yanshan, 1981 Ink on paper, inscribed and signed Sanshi louzu, with two seals, unmounted, 89 x 34.5cm. Provenance: Collection of the late Richard Edwards, and thence by descent. Acquired from the artist in 1980, by repute. Richard Edwards was a renowned pacifist and historian of East Asian art, a subject which he taught at the University of Michigan from 1960-1986, where he also became Professor Emeritus of East Asian Art. Edwards was deeply interested in the works of Zeng Mi, whom he had met in person in Hangzhou in 1980, when the artist was working in a factory. It is at this time that the family believes the works were acquired from the artist. The two kept in contact, and Edwards wrote the introduction for the 1994 exhibition catalogue of the artist's works at the Hong Kong gallery Alisan Fine Art (Zeng Mi: A Modern Xieyi Painter, Edwards, Richard [introduction], published by Alisan Fine Art, Hong Kong, 1994). 曾宓 雁山飞渠 水墨纸本，镜心 款識：雁山飞渠。辛酉□□，三石樓主寫。 鈴印：「遲」，「紀游之作」。 來源： 已故 Richard Edwards 收藏，並由其家族傳承至今。 據傳於 1980 年直接向藝術家購得。 Richard Edwards 為著名的和平主義者及東亞藝術史學家，1960 至 1986 年期間於密西根大學任教東亞藝術，並於該校獲授東亞藝術榮休教授（Professor Emeritus）稱號。 Edwards 對曾宓的作品懷有濃厚興趣。1980 年，他在杭州與當時仍於工廠工作的藝術家曾宓親自會面。據其家人所述，作品即於此時自藝術家處購得。此後兩人一直保持聯繫，Edwards 並為 1994 年香港阿里山畫廊（Alisan Fine Art）舉辦的曾宓作品展覽圖錄撰寫序言（《曾宓：現代寫意畫家》，Richard Edwards［序言］，香港阿里山畫廊出版，1994 年）。
