Oil on canvas A painting that shows a clear naturalistic imprint, with Caravaggio-like influences. An iconographic prototype of Reni's influence, Guido Reni's Madonna Adoring the Sleeping Child. The work reproduces the exact construction of the scene, with the exception of the Madonna. The sleeping child is on an elegant cushion, with the curtain drawn to one side almost in the same position, revealing a portion of the distant landscape. Genovesino was certainly familiar with the above-mentioned painting, but he makes his own extremely unique, drawing back the curtain to the landscape, giving a personal touch to the composition. Beyond the iconological element, the stylistic aspect shows clear references to the chiaroscuro lights, the atmosphere, the thick layering of paint sectioned by the use of brushstrokes to define the modeling of the body, findings influenced by Orazio Gentileschi, with whom he had had contact in Genoa. Furthermore, the child's face, with its plump, red cheeks, almost smiling, gives softness and sweetness to the composition. all, it seems to be in keeping with Strozzi's style. These clues might suggest that this is one of the few works executed by Miradori in his hometown of Genoa."STUDIO ASOR
