Likely dating from the 16th century or a later 19th-century revival, a finely cast bronze table bell, surmounted by a figural handle in the form of a female bust, possibly an allegory such as Melancholy or a classical goddess like Venus. The bell's body is intricately decorated in high relief with a series of classical motifs, including putti (cherubs), grotesque masks, and foliate swags set against a textured, diamond-patterned ground. The dark brown patina emphasizes the detail of the casting. Very good overall condition with patina, oxidation and light wear consistent with age and use. Please refer to the photos for more details.
