拍品描述

Ca. 20th century AD. >A circular ceremonial hat composed of radiating feather straws densely arranged around a central point, forming a wide disc-like structure. The surface is richly adorned with vivid red feathers interspaced with darker accents, creating a striking visual texture and a dramatic burst-like appearance. The feathers are attached to the ends of the straw elements, producing a layered radial composition that emphasises the overall circular form. Hats of this type are associated with ceremonial dress in parts of Cameroon, where elaborate feathered adornments were worn during festivals, dances, and other important social occasions. The bold colour and dynamic structure highlight the importance of visual display and craftsmanship within regional ceremonial traditions. > >Size: 28mm x 270/590mm; Weight: 1.8kg >Provenance: Prince Collection, 1990s-2014; ex Jacaranda Tribal Art; ex Marc Ginzberg collection. > This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. >
