A rare Chinese Jun crackle-glazed 'bubble' bowl, Yuan dynasty 元代 鈞窯藍釉盌

Skilfully potted with curved sides rising from a gently-splayed foot, decorated with an unctuous bluish-grey glaze suffused with a network of dark and fine crackles, the glaze thinning to a paler tone around the rim and neatly stopping around the top of the foot Size:(16cm diameter) Qty: (1) Provenance:Private Swiss collection; Geoffrey Middle collection 來源： 瑞士私人收藏； 傑佛瑞 · 米德爾先生珍藏 Notes: This bowl is a rare example of crackle-glazed wares produced at the Jun kilns as imitations of the earlier Guan-type ceramics from the Song dynasty. These 'bubble' bowls were skilfully potted, with sides that curved inwards at the rim and supported by a well-defined foot, with Yuan examples being of a darker colour than their predecessors. See a comparable bowl in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, object no. 66.89, and included by Valenstein, Suzanne G., Julia Meech, and Marilyn Jenkins in 'Oriental Ceramics: The World's Great Collections', vol. 12, limited ed., Tokyo: Kōdansha International Ltd., 1977, pl. 44. See a smaller bowl in the same museum, this one of a slightly-smaller size and being dated to the Song or Jin dynasty, object no. 18.56.44. A related bowl is in the British Museum, no. Franks.120.+, this example with finer crackles against a pale blue ground. The Victoria & Albert museum houses a 'green Jun' bowl with a sparse network of crackles and a very similar well-defined dark foot, accession no.
