The slender meiping set with a short waisted neck and conical rim, the brown-glazed of the exterior carved through to depict a trio of quatrefoil panels enclosing foliate sprays against a ground of arching waves Size:(32cm high) Qty: (1) Provenance:Private collection, New York; Geoffrey Middle collection 來源： 紐約私人收藏； 傑佛瑞 · 米德爾先生珍藏 Notes: This meiping was decorated via glazing the entire vessel and then cutting away or incising the design through the glaze before firing, a technique developed at several kilns producing Cizhou-type ceramics in Henan and Shanxi provinces. Stoneware types employing this decoration were produced in the northwest of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with a high-point being during the Xixia dynasty. Three vases with similar designs of peony sprays in quatrefoil panels set against a ground of undulating waves are illustrated by Hang Tian in 'Xixia Ceramics', Beijing, 2010, p. 313, no. TB3001. See a similar vase offered at Sotheby's New York, 26th September 2023, lot 1226. Another similar vase was sold at Christie’s New York, 18-19 September 2014, lot 762. 此件梅瓶採用極具地域特色的裝飾技法：先通體施釉，而後於釉面剔除或刻畫紋飾，再入窯高溫燒製。此類技法成熟於河南、山西一帶之磁州窯系窯口，隨後被西北地區廣泛應用。尤以寧夏回族自治區之西夏瓷窯為巔峰，將此種黑白對比強烈的裝飾工藝發揮至極致。 杭天著，《西夏瓷器》（北京，2010年），頁313，圖版編號 TB3001著錄了三件構圖相近之牡丹紋開光梅瓶，均以波浪紋為地，展現了極高的工藝一致性。類似的花瓶曾於蘇富比紐約，2023年9月26日，拍品編號 1226；佳士得紐約，2014年9月18-19日，拍品編號 762。
