CHINESE FINELY CARVED DING-WARE 'LOTUS' LOBED DISH NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY 北宋 定窯劃花紋折沿花口盤the angled sides rising from a broad base, supported on a short foot ring, the lobed mouth rim characteristically unglazed, the interior finely incised and combed with a lotus flowering from long stems, covered in a warm ivory glaze with areas of pooling to the base 18.6cm diameter C. This finely carved dish with a lotus motif exemplifies the restrained elegance and refined craftsmanship for which Ding wares is renowned.
